Again is one of the first pieces I sold. The original was a print I made in house, hand cut and framed myself. Inspired by the song Again by John Legend and a huge bundle of break up energy, we see a man wrestling with the thoughts of what is best for him mentally and what he craves physically. I wanted to match his physical disposition with the heavy and melting sensation of depression and his mental state, and the expression “Nothing to get bent out of shape about.” a phrase akin to those often used to overlook the seriousness of men's mental health, where emotions are frequently shrugged off, dismissed and sometimes self medicated.
 
Even the background tells a story that provides context to the man’s emotional state. It’s fall because that is a season of transition, the last little bit of visual life on trees is starting to dissipate just like the ending stages of a relationship. If the man on the bench makes the decision for himself to move on, he will face a harsh winter alone but eventually spring, growth, and a better life because of it.
