The Dupont Hustle is the largest painting I have ever created. I was inspired to create this piece after witnessing a heated argument between two chess players in DuPont Circle late at night on my way to play mini golf. I mean these brothers were louder than a Dallas Cowboys fan in a DC barbershop talkin’ bout "it’s their year" type of loud. I wondered if people played chess in DuPont Circle often (and in the day time). My research led me to the name Tom Murphy, a DC based legendary Chess Master…who might have made a couple dollars here and there playing.
The main figure playing chess is not a depiction or representation of Tom, but it's his opponent. The people behind "The Player " look on with mixed emotions.
As I myself don’t truly understand what a “good” move or “bad” move in chess is. lol. One man is in support of "The Player’s" move, and another on looker displaying his disbelief opposed to "The Player's" move choice.
This is the original and only canvas print of The Dupont Hustle. Don’t miss out on adding this unique 1 of 1, signed and authenticated, ”x ” piece into your wall.
